Supreme Court decision: The qualifying element of "great extent" for cannabis is met when the amount of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) exceeds 1,000 grams or the amount of dried cannabis exceeds 10,000 grams. In one case the defendants possessed more than 17.5 kg of dried cannabis (containing 1,503 g THC) and additional plants. This far exceeded the threshold, so they were convicted of illegal production and handling in a great extent.
