Can I claim compensation within a Czech criminal case?

Yes. Czech criminal courts can order the defendant to pay compensation to the injured party as part of the criminal judgment. This is called an adhesion procedure (adhézní řízení). You must register your claim before the trial ends.

What if the police refuse to investigate my complaint?

You have the right to challenge a decision not to open an investigation. We can file a complaint against police inactivity and, if necessary, refer the matter to the state prosecutor.

Do I need to be in the Czech Republic to be represented as a victim?
